MultiCare is a not-for-profit health care organization with more than 20,000 team members, including employees, providers and volunteers. MultiCare has been caring for our community for well over a century, since the founding of Tacoma’s first hospital and today is the largest community-based, locally governed system of health in the state of Washington, serving communities across Washington and Northern Idaho.
MultiCare’s comprehensive system of health includes numerous primary care, urgent care and specialty services — including Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Network; MultiCare Indigo Urgent Care; Pulse Heart Institute; MultiCare Medical Associates, affiliated physicians; MultiCare Rockwood Clinic, the largest multispecialty clinic in the Inland Northwest region; and MultiCare Connected Care, our Accountable Care Organization.
Eleven hospitals complete the organization: Allenmore Hospital, Auburn Medical Center, Capital Medical Center, Covington Medical Center, Deaconess Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital — the Puget Sound region’s only children’s hospital and state-designated Level II Pediatric Trauma Center for Western Washington — Navos Behavioral Health Hospital, Valley Hospital, Tacoma General Hospital — which is home to the South Puget Sound region’s only Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit — and Wellfound Behavioral Health Hospital.
Our core values of Respect, Integrity, Stewardship, Excellence, Collaboration and Kindness, serve as our guiding principles and impact every aspect of our organization, including how we provide patient care and what we expect from each other.
MultiCare is also proud of our commitment to workforce diversity and culturally competent care. This commitment is led by our CEO and supported through employee education and community outreach.
We’ve been caring for Northwest communities for more than 100 years. We’re proud of the recognition we’ve received, including our “best employer” award from Forbes magazine. But, the best reward of all is the many lives we’ve improved or saved while focused on our mission of “Partnering for Healing and a Healthy Future.”
You care for our patients. Let us care for you.

You give your best to patients, their families and our communities. But to give your best, you’ve got to be at your best. We have generous paid time off and leave policies in addition to high-quality health plans to help you stay at your best.

It’s so important to us that you have professional opportunities and the right resources so that you feel supported to thrive. Here are our resources to support professional growth.
Our most valuable asset at MultiCare are employees. That is why we offer a wide range of well-being offerings to support you at every level. MultiCare is committed to providing a culture of well-being within our organization and supporting our employees so they can thrive both at work and in their personal lives.
At MultiCare, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to live a healthy life free from racism, injustice, discrimination and violence. We believe all patients are deserving of care that is high quality, safe, equitable, compassionate and culturally sensitive. And we are committed to building a diverse workforce, as a diverse workforce benefits both employees and patients by offering an inclusive place to provide and receive care.
At MultiCare, we are committed to building a diverse workforce. Fostering a diverse workforce benefits both employees and patients by offering an inclusive place to provide and receive care. People from different backgrounds serve in a number of roles in our facility. While we may come from different experiences, we all share the same goal of providing high quality patient care.
Racism and discrimination have no place in our health system. That’s true for our relationships with our patients and that’s true for our relationships with our colleagues. MultiCare has developed a number of education programs for our employees so they have the tools they need to care for all our patients in a compassionate and respectful manner. Those programs include:
- Culturally Competent Care Training
- LGBTQ Core Competency & Sex, Orientation, Gender Identity and Pronouns (SOGI-P) Data Collection Training
- Qualified Bilingual Staff Program Leader Harassment and Discrimination Training
The Belonging Program
Recently, as part of the discussions about equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging that our organization has been engaged in since June, we have begun developing a more comprehensive Belonging Program. This program will serve as an overall guide to our organization as we travel on our Belonging Journey, with a special focus on our employees.
Patient and Community Programs
MultiCare has a long history of supporting the diverse communities we serve to help them overcome health disparities and work toward healthier futures. In addition to the numerous partnerships, we have cultivated over the years with like-minded organizations, we have developed programs of our own.
MultiCare will be the Pacific Northwest’s highest value system of health.
