HARTZ Search invites you to explore an exciting opportunity with our client, Oswego Health, in Oswego, NY, for the Director of Materials Management. The new director will be responsible for managing and supervising the evaluation, procurement, storage, and distribution of all supplies and equipment, will oversee the daily operations of the Purchasing Office and storeroom, and will coordinate Group Purchasing. This leader directs and formulates procedures and policies to ensure materials and equipment are available and delivered when needed, ensures compliance with policies and procedures, and identifies and drives supply chain improvement opportunities.

The health system also operates Oswego Health Home Care, the only hospital-based certified home healthcare agency in the County as well as two outpatient centers, including the Fulton Medical Center, offering urgent care, lab, medical imaging, physical therapy, and occupational health services; and the Central Square Medical Center, offering urgent care, lab, medical imaging, and physical therapy services. In addition, Oswego Health includes the Oswego Health captive professional corporation, Physician Care P.C., providing physician services in orthopedics, cardiology, ENT, gastroenterology, breast care, audiology, general surgery, bariatrics, and primary care.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reports to the Executive Vice President of Finance and CFO
- 6 Direct Reports and a $600k Budget
- Directs and manages operations of the Materials Management department.
- Oversees centralized procurement of all supplies, equipment and services including the storage and distribution of supplies and equipment throughout the organization.
- Management of the GPO purchasing program.
- Directs and manages information systems usage supporting Materials Management functionality, ensuring user security, access, and scope of function are in compliance with Health and Hospital policy.
- Monitors perpetual inventory control system. Establishes par levels for inventory items.
- Provides cost-benefit analysis to substantiate decisions in medical \ surgical product selection.
- Provides cost-benefit analysis to substantiate decisions in capital equipment product selection, Capital Budget purchasing time frames, GPO inclusion, and delivery.
- Coordinate the standardization of supplies and equipment within the organization.
- Performs contract reviews for purchased service contracts and provides feedback to departments and/or vendors in connection with organizational contract policy.
- Performs service provider requests for proposals as necessary for departments.
- Preparation of the annual department operating and capital budget.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with customer departments, the management team, and medical staff. Orient new leadership team members on purchasing policies and practices.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, or a related field is preferred. Experience: Seven years of progressive experience in management, logistics, supply chain, or healthcare
