PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Manages inventory of HVIS labs, supplies, and purchases in a cost-effective manner.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with purchasing materials management to reach appropriate level of product standardization and support these initiative and strategies in all interactions with physicians.
- Monitors par levels and communicates possible need adjustments appropriately.
- Orders, receives, and stores supplies.
- Logs and prepares explanted pacemakers for mail-out.
- Organizes/maintains and performs physical inventory as needed: keeping in mind potential changes in par levels.
- Generates purchase orders as necessary.
- Orders linens and pick up carts in OR.
- Unpack gowns and blankets
- Work with HVIS coders to ensure that patient charges are being recorded properly
- QA staff reports in Merge
- Transports used instruments every two hours.
- Performs advanced troubleshooting and call appropriate support departments when necessary.
- Stocks supplies in electrophysiology cart.
- Stocks vendor carts with surgical hats, masks and bunny suits as needed.
- Takes broken equipment to clinical engineering for repair.
- Performs quality controls on AVOX machines and/or glucose meters.
- Monitor refrigerator temperatures in CCL and EP labs.
- Assists in maintaining air transfer mattresses within department.
- Acts as a team member in receiving daily supplies on a daily basis.
- Demonstrates compliance with Christiana Care Center and Departmental policies and procedures and mandatory education requirements including but not limited to safety, infection control, attendance and dress code.
- Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
- Performs other related duties as required.
SCHEDULE/HOURS:
- Full-time - 8 hours shifts
- Day shift - able to work as early as 6am and as late as 5pm
- No weekends
- Rotating holidays
- Able to work at Wilmington hospital location occassionally
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma graduate or equivalent.
Associate Degree (Preferred)
Heart and Vascular experienced and relevant experience in inventory preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to use applicable equipment and software according to procedures.
Ability to work with computers, information systems and learn new techniques.
Ability to instruct and teach co-workers and physicians on new techniques, protocols/procedures, equipment.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with members of the health care team.
Ability to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing for long periods of time, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending and walking as indicated on the physical demands checklist.
Frequent lifting up to 35 lbs with a max of 50lbs.
Occasional assisting with patient transporting via stretcher.
Must be able to visually inspect small packages and verify small text including but not limited to expiration information which may be translucent.
