General Description of the Job Class
Plan, coordinate and oversee the establishment and operation of specialized supply and inventory processes at the Duke Cancer Center utilizing tools of Lean learning. Working with Supply Chain and Performance Services develop, coordinate and implement policies and processes to decrease supply waste and increase efficiency. This position will also create a standard supply template, and be the central supply control and procurement specialist.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
- Plan, coordinate and oversee in the implementation of activities including, but not limited to, Lean implementation within the cancer center for all supply ordering. Determining current inventory as well as PAR stock levels needed within each level of the cancer center.
- Implement and teach Kan ban system at the unit level for supply management.
- Train employees in proper methods and procedures and ensure the correctness of work.
- Also continue to perform audits to maintain the process and ensure that ordering and stocking are correct and PAR levels are adjusted for patient care levels.
- Collaborate with Supply chain to identify opportunities on Unit supply carts for automation of supplies and relevance of supplies on each cart.
- Work as the SAP expert for ordering items considered nonstock from the supply chain carts for each floor.
- Act as the purchaser and receiver for all SAP items clinical team members require for patient care. Reconcile all invoices within SAP and obtain purchase orders when required.
- Review and maintain budgetary control by setting standard products for those products that are used by all team members such as pens, paper, and other office and snack items.
- Periodically monitor all inventory items for proper adherence to the Kan ban system and relevance of items requested by team members.
- Prepare reports and conduct preliminary analyses setting forth progress and adverse trends. Provide input into appropriate program recommendations or conclusions.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program with one year of experience in program administration or event production. -OR- Two years of postsecondary education with three years of experience in program administration or event production.
Experience
Supply chain workflow, preferable in a complex system. Preferred experience in change management and LEAN or Six Sigma training
