Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Director and Staff Pharmacists, assists in the preparation and delivery of all medications and performs related duties. This shall be carried out in accordance with all state/federal laws, Joint Commission standards; and hospital/departmental policies and procedures. Performs staffing, scheduling, ordering of Pharmaceuticals; and assignment delegation for Pharmacy support/technical support.
Responsibilities
The individual�s responsibilities include the following activities:
- Place daily and restock vendor orders for pharmaceuticals and supplies in timely manner,
- Review and check accuracy of all orders and requisitions,
- Review contract pricing and report any price discrepancies to Director,
- Coordinate all product returns with wholesaler or vendors,
- Accurately stock ADCs in a timely manner
- Complete monthly medication inspections as assigned and ensure medication integrity and appropriate documentation,
- Maintain stock levels at established levels to avoid stock out and adhere to contracts and formulary requirements,
- Maintain proper records of purchase orders, returns, outdated medications, recalls, and inter-hospital transfers,
- Follow proper process for handling of controlled substances and report any variances to Supervisor or pharmacist-in-charge,
- Process pharmaceutical invoices and other billing receipts or purchase orders in timely manner,
- Seek costs savings opportunities and identify purchasing area of improvement,
- Assist in preparation of physical inventory
Qualifications:
Education Minimum:
High school graduate or GED required. College courses preferred or technician certificate preferred.
Experience/Qualifications:
One year of hospital pharmacy experience preferred unit dose and IV admixture.
Good communication skills and ability to relate effectively to hospital staff, department heads, administration and medical staff.
Required Certification / Licensure / Registration:
Florida Registered Pharmacy Tech
