Job Summary
Assists with the daily supervision and management activities related to the inventory management process for the Surgical Suite to contribute to the assurance of optimal patient care. Assists in maintaining departmental compliance with regulatory agencies, including Joint Commission and Department of Health. Supervises and directs assigned Environmental Services and Material's Management Services personnel. Assures assignments are completed properly and in compliance with healthcare safety and sanitation regulations. Communicates with other departments to solve problems. Ensures a professional and appropriate service standard while performing the job. Follows and enforces system wide standards as well as department specific service standards. Works closely with management to develop and maintain realistic supply levels with minimal inventory investment. Assists in the equipment inventory tracking, return processes and Manage Recalls process.Job Duties
- Assists with staffing, planning, training and management of the operational functions in conjunction with the requirements of all areas.
- Works in conjunction with OSW buyer to ensure product supply needs are met within the system.
- Creates and maintains all supply templates, spread sheets for paring supplies in assigned areas within the Surgical Suite.
- Assists in investigation of problem areas or complaints concerning intra-and interdepartmental operation.
- Assists with inventory redesign in assigned areas.
- Involves layout and setup of supply areas and shelving, creating supply requisitions, establishing par levels, product placement, application of all pertinent signage and labeling and performance of the responsible staff in maintaining the entire order process from requisitioning to stocking.
- Receives and verifies incoming special order stock deliveries immediately upon receipt, for obvious or concealed shipping damages and shortages.
- Notifies the buyer of receipt issues.
- Refuses shipment under service conditions.
- Receives PO's under RQC and places all items in assigned locations, and rotates supplies as appropriate.
- Researches stock outs and overstock and suggests product minimax quantities as necessary by communicating information to Management, Supervision, and buyer.
- Responds to buyer inquiries for critical delivery dates.
- Assists in the establishment and implementation of policies and procedures within my area for receiving neo tissue and returning and destroy of unwanted use or expired tissue and other product.
- Tissue Tracker is utilized to receive and archive products.
- Works with Vendor Representatives, Management, Supervision, buyer, and sourcing specialist on all new trialed product introductions and ensures consigned inventory is being managed properly.
- Supervises the daily operations of assigned EVS techs and Material Management personnel by observing staff performance and workflow.
- Verifies that each responsible employee's daily assignments area being performed thoroughly and effectively.
- Delegates tasks and responsibilities as needed.
- Completes performance evaluations for assigned staff as well as coordinating the establishment of goals and objectives for assigned staff including annual skill competency checklist reviews.
- Responsible for the interview, selection process, hiring process, orientation set up, training set up, competency testing for all new hires.
- Orders supplies as needed; obtains special items, as requested.
- Works closely with CSR to maintain inventory levels for all sterile instrumentation, track loaner instrumentation trays and implants replacements.
Work is typically performed in a warehouse/maintenance or office environment; may require performance of work within clinical areas. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to reach above head, bend, push, pull, stoop and kneel. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
