The Senior Director of Procurement will be responsible for developing strategy, implementing, and managing of our strategic sourcing process to include GPO management, contract and vendor management, procurement governance, category management and negotiations and other key initiatives. This individual will play an important role in the procurement transformation and will also be responsible for delivering against a multi-million annual savings target. This role will be expected to support a variety of spend categories, partner with senior Corporate and Market business leaders as well as develop and manage a high-performing team. This is a key leadership role in a larger procurement function responsible for nearly $10B in managed spend. This individual will be a direct report to the VP of Procurement who leads the function.
FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
The person in this position will be responsible for the development and implementation of purchasing strategies, strategic sourcing and category management, policies and procedures based on industry best practice and in alignment with Tenet business objectives. This leader will also be directly responsible for a multimillion-dollar savings agenda.
This leader will be responsible for the following:
Establish comprehensive. â��best-in-classâ�� procure to pay process with a comprehensive view on total cost of ownership and streamlined processes.
Streamline, offshore, automate and continuously improve Procurement processes and tools, including implement contract management solution and supply chain ERP.
Responsible for aligning departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
Develop, implement, and measure initiatives to deliver multi-million savings agenda annually in alignment with best practices and Tenet business objectives.
Partner with business and clinical leaders on key negotiations and vendor management and ensuring procurement services meet expectations.
Negotiate major contracts involving material dollar amounts, and lead RFP and negotiations for cross-functional vendors.
Monitor the cost schedule and performance aspects of key vendors, hold reviews with key suppliers to ensure accountability and develop strategic relationships.
Oversee portion of the Procurement budget and team including making hiring decisions, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring that resources are effectively used etc.

CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE, ATTRIBUTES AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 10 years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a team leadership role.
Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience in a healthcare provider context.
Proven success in working with a captive or outsourced off-shore procurement support and analytics function.
Detailed knowledge of efficient flow of a purchasing system and the necessary controls to be maintained.
Proven track record of using data to inform business decisions at scale.
Viable knowledge of vendors and sources of supply.
Prior experience with management of indirect and direct spend, ideally in the healthcare industry.
Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word/PPT/Excel) are required.
Demonstrated ERP system expertise.
Excellent negotiating skills.
Ability to multi-task, strong organizational skills, and superior attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to include collecting and analyzing data resulting in fiscally responsible decisions.
