he Vice President Supply Chain is responsible for the ongoing strategic development, daily operation, budget performance, financial improvements and special projects in execution of all Supply Chain Operations of CarePoint Health and related entities. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and working collaboratively with CarePoint executive team, medical staff and Chief Hospital Executives at each facility, the VP of Supply Chain executes supply chain operations, logistics, purchasing, supply analytics, value analysis and other key operating strategies intended to improve cost, quality, safety and operational efficiency. This visionary, hands-on executive will provide structure to deliver ongoing, measured improvements, and foster a team environment to develop leadership within the staff.
In concert with CarePoint Executive Leadership team, develops and drives a strategic plan for CarePoint Supply Chain with short and term plan goals, and measures and monitors performance against the strategic plan
Directly accountable for a team of30+exempt professional and non-exempt Supply Chain staff at assigned acute-care and other assigned operating locations.
Overall management of and operational/technological improvements in supply chain operations, value analysis processes, savings initiative implementation, contract conversions, contract compliance, warehouse, distribution, effective supplier partnerships, and other related duties as assigned.
Partner with clinical / administrative / healthcare system staff to influence purchasing decisions.
Works with Corporate and Facility Directors to lead and implement capital budgeting decisions, operational efficiency initiatives and cost-reduction strategies. Defines optimal procurement and sourcing strategies for various categories of spend.
Develops a plan and approach to achieves annual cost reduction targets and corporate performance standards as directed by CarePoint board and executive team
Provides development and training in the areas of supply procurement, inventory management and operational best practices.
Negotiates with vendors based on aggregated system level purchases, and maintains key GPO, distribution and vendor relationships
Responsible for the review and analysis of supply purchases, oversight of value analysis and contract management
Responsible for day to day procurement activities and supply analytic functions in a Meditech environment
Ensures staff training and development.
Directs the development of policies for Materials Management and ensures compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements
Qualifications and Preferred Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required
Master’s Degree is preferred MBA or MPH
Displays self direction and independent decision- making capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of team
10 to 15+ years progressive leadership supply chain management experience in a large or multi-hospital setting, or multi-regional enterprise operations, or supply chain consulting.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational abilities, project management skills, and statistical analysis abilities
Demonstrated ability to affect organization change in a corporate, health system or consulting environment desired
Excellent customer service and people skills
Strong skills in MS Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
Strong knowledge of supply chain data and ERP systems
Supply chain and other professional certifications desired
Demonstrated lean and process improvement skills a plus
Clinical background a plus
Must have ability to effectively supervise staff in different physical locations
Experienced in leading and facilitating group and team meetings and projects
Daily or weekly travel between CarePoint facilities for meetings and as necessary (15-mile region)
