Job Summary The Desert Mission Operations Director is responsible for the operations management of the Desert Mission Food Bank and Community Outreach and Eligibility Services. This position will be responsible for the successful operations of Emergency Food Boxes, USDA Commodities Supplemental Food Program and special programs including Corporate Volunteer Engagement, Agency Relations, food drives, and special events. This position is responsible for the recruitment, training, scheduling and supervision of staff and volunteers. Responsibilities include daily operation of the Food Bank and cultivation and stewardship of the volunteer work force. Maintains a cost effective, organized, clean, safe and secure environment at all times in compliance with current policy and health and safety regulations, and ensures regulatory, licensing, contract and grant compliance requirements are met for the Desert Mission.
Develop, promote, support, enhance and ensure the quality, effectiveness and relevance of services offered by Desert Mission and Community Services. Administrative management and oversight of the Federal Commodity Food Programs, donated and purchased food products. Develops new programs and resources to support client services as community needs are identified. Establish relationships and opportunity for referral by community agencies and schools to Desert Mission Develop, enhance or modify programs and resources to support client services as community and client needs are identified and met through the Community Health Needs Assessment. Ensure the quality standards of all programs and services.
Ensure the quality and effectiveness of all programs and services. Ensure the highest quality Client Service is provided by developing and measuring quality indicators. Facilitate Cash Management/Auditing and develop monthly reporting audits. Ensure that services are provided by measuring outcome indictors. Measure the effectiveness of integration with other programs, both internally and externally. Ensure routine maintenance schedule is enforced (Annual Inspections, equipment, trucks, freezer, cooler, etc.) Ensure Food Safety protocols, equipment safety and maintenance schedules and facilitate emergency preparedness planning.
Regulatory, licensing, contract, and grant compliance Ensure compliance with all regulatory and contract requirements and/or changes implemented by any regulatory, licensing, contract or grant agency, such as the Maricopa County Health Dept, United Way, etc. and modify relevant aspects of the programs if necessary. Maintain program standards, policies and procedures in order to meet all regulatory, licensing, contracting and grant requirements, including all state and federal regulations and standards. Develop and maintain work plans, business plans and program goals as necessary to meet internal, regulatory, licensing, contract and grant standards and goals. Develop and maintain a policy and procedure manual outlining the processes of the programs, reporting mechanisms, and services provided. Develop, collect and maintain data relating to eligibility guidelines and documentation of eligibility for all programs. Maintain all data, reports, and information required for regulatory, licensing, contract and grant compliance.
Interview, recruit, hire, train, supervise, counsel, evaluate and direct the actions of paid staff and volunteer staff maintaining employee engagement and low turnover. Recruit, train, support, appraise, coach and discipline and monitor the performance of staff. Plan and assign and direct work, and address complaints and resolve problems. Recruit, train and support and cultivate positive relationships with the volunteer staff. Ensure that all personnel are adequately trained, oriented and supervised. Support Employee and Volunteer Engagement programming.
